The eFine launch is being moved to allow us to address some legislative issues. We want to make sure that when we launch that everything is in order and that users and councils are able to use the product as intended.
We want to thank all the people who contacted us regarding the Beta and the launch, and we will be responding to all the emails and messages received over the next week. To those that we have not replied to yet, it is nothing personal, we have been inundated with emails and questions.
To those of you who are keen to see eFine rollout, and to see councils be able to better manage their streets and to give residents back a feeling of control, sign up to the newsletter for updates and to be involved in the process. This will include lobbying of MPs and petitioning parliament to streamline and simplify the rules and regulations around parking as well as how fines can be issued for all parking infringements.
To quote the British Parking Association “yellow lines, some permit loading/unloading and blue badge holders, some have changeable restrictions at different times of day, but if you haven’t had the necessary training, as Civil Enforcement Officers have to, you wouldn’t know that.” If the laws are so confusing you need special training to issue a ticket how is the lay person parking the car meant to understand all these “nuances”. The answer is they are not, plain and simple.
The legislation needs to change; it needs to be simplified and the enforcement needs to be brought into the 21st century. You can help drive this change by being part of the solution.
When social influencers like Katie Price now actively flaunt and promote illegal parking, with council funding being cut year on year to such an extent that they cannot cover the basics let alone hire more Civil Enforcement Officers, and with how anti-social parking impacts the most vulnerable in our society, now is the time for this legislation to be changed, improved and made more current.
